Cold Lazarus Remixed’ showcases unique and diverse revisions of Black Wave’s lead track ‘Cold Lazarus’ from Starkey and Nightwave plus Drums of Death's own Club edit, as well as Tomb Crew’s rework of ‘I Can’t Take It’.
The original tracks are taken from Drums Of Death’s ‘Black Waves EP’, four tracks tailor made for the dance floor; inspired by the maker’s passion for house and techno. It harnessed a dark and sinister sound. 808 drum patterns fused with menacing, tense synths and fresh melodies. ‘Cold Lazarus Remixed’ continues to focus on the club with these four considered and well-delivered revisions

It harnessed a dark and sinister sound. 808 drum patterns fused with menacing, tense synths and fresh melodies. ‘Cold Lazarus Remixed’ continues to focus on the club with four considered and well-delivered revisions; “Cold Lazarus Remixed” is out 24th Oct on Civil Music. ‘Cold Lazarus Remixed’ opens with Drums Of Death's own alternative version to the intense 4-minute roller coaster that is ‘Cold Lazarus’, increasing the tension and drive of the original, providing a destructive club alternative to a track that was already brimming with intensity. Starkey takes the reins next, and while the emphasis is placed on ‘Cold Lazarus’ majestic strings, he adds street-bass swagger in the form of a swinging half-step almost hip-hop tempo driven with deep sub-bass. These alterations retaining the tight and taught tension of the original but the result a dramatically altered bass lead spectacle, and as always with Starkey, the quality of production is impeccable. Nightwave, (the artist formerly known as 8-Bitch) morphs ‘Cold Lazarus’ into an energetic, jittery juke number. Warm, organic synths pervade throughout the Chicago-inspired footwork skittering and
snaking. Nightwave takes the track through multiple dimensions, adding and removing throughout to create intricate layers and dynamics. Finally, Tomb Crew round things off with their take on the soulful ‘I Can’t Take It’ transforming it into a full on dance-floor firecracker, crunching synths and claustrophobic percussion appear throughout. An audacious backspin shifts the track into second gear with mutated bass keeping you on your toes with hands in the air. |
