Building on the band's trademark Balearic Indie sound, DARK ARTS stands proud as another dance-floor diamond to sing out loud. Slick and synthesised with soul, the boys sit song-craft at centre-stage, and with it, seem set to carve their name a number of notches above similar sounding contemporaries. Their musical manifesto sits House beats and Techno tweaks cheek to cheek with pop melody and chiming indie guitars. Together for two years, Starlings remind us that the steel city was once as close spiritually and musically to Detroit and Düsseldorf, as it is geographically to Doncaster. A band born from a love of Sheffield's sparkling electronic music legacy, STARLINGS rekindle the city's spiritual sound and turn it around for the ears of the modern era. They are THE chaps of the next chapter. Live, STARLINGS are a glittering prize. Dressed in sharp threads, they stylishly twist their recorded tunes to suit the stage. Oozing with the energy of The Killers & Friendly Fires but with added passion and polish, these dandy young men cut their cloth closest to a band version of Hurts. Effervescent front man Justin Robson fizzes with the flair of Jim Kerr, spinning a spell on the unsuspecting, dazzling to a disco beat. Having previously played with the likes of Fenech-Soler, Kele (Bloc Party) & Kissy Sell Out, this summer STARLINGS have shared stages with The Whip, Maximo Park and Gary Numan.
