Grotty, liquid, dark, brutal and lush are all words used to describe the music of Reso, such a contrasting set of adjectives are hard to understand but after a listen to this EP and other productions, you begin to understand why. A drummer at heart, these natural patterns of “skin hitting” are engrained through on his digital programming and productions.
Heavy Arms contains the driving bass and heavyweight machine sounds of Double A sides 'Beast's in the Basement' & ‘Busted Crunk’. ‘TikTak’ ‘Smash Yer Face In’ and I.D's ‘Identity’ remix appear in the download package and complete a densely layered, high octane tapestry, rich with the musical texture and colour that sets Reso apart.

A drummer at heart, these natural patterns of “skin hitting” are engrained within his brain and shine through on his digital programming and productions. After the underground dubstep smash 'If Ya Can’t Beat Em' Reso returns with another equally huge 12” and cements his stature in more than one genre… ’Beasts In The Basement’ will undoubtedly be one of this years biggest Dubstep releases. Huge driving bass and heavyweight machine sounds. Beast’s is both tongue in cheek and a jaw breaker. Double A side ‘Busted Crunk’ is takes in old school jungle, wonky bass, rave building key changes, Technoid Android dubstep…. And that drop….well… nuff said. ‘TikTak’ is a Techno / Glitch house assault. ‘Smash Yer Face In’ does exactly that and I.D's ‘Identity’ remix has a definite nod to the old school with some very clever rave drum programming going on. Reso’s aural identity is a densely layered, high octane tapestry, rich with musical texture and colour, which really sets him apart from the minimal sparseness of many of his fellow producers. Mary Anne Hobbs has been a fervent supporter of the young producer. Reso is certainly one of the most technically gifted producers to have sprouted from the dubstep scene and is fast gaining recognition from the techno, glitch and breaks scene for his own twisted take on the dubstep /130bpm-140bpm sound. |
